About Access Granted
Helping Your Home Work for You

James Elliot, Owner, Access Granted
Access Granted is a North Bay design-build firm specializing in accessibility modifications that help people live safely, comfortably and independently in the homes they love.
Led by James Elliot, Access Granted brings more than three decades of design and construction experience to every project. James began his career working as a union carpenter while putting himself through school, giving him a hands-on understanding of how thoughtful design translates into practical, buildable solutions.
He later served as Director of Architecture for Richmond American Homes, overseeing the development of multiple subdivisions and the construction of approximately 2,500 homes annually. As Vice President of Cucina Galleria, a design-build firm he co-founded, James managed the redesign of 20 to 30 residential and commercial kitchens and bathrooms each year.
In recent years, James has increasingly focused his experience on accessibility and aging-in-place design, integrating solutions such as residential elevators, lifts, curbless showers, and walk-in tubs into existing homes.
Accessibility Without Sacrificing Your Home
Every home—and everyone who lives in it—is different. Access Granted isn’t about making a home look institutional or installing a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s about understanding how you live today, anticipating what you may need tomorrow, and finding thoughtful ways to make your home safer and easier to navigate while preserving the character and comfort that make it yours.
Solutions can range from grab bars, railings, improved lighting, and accessible storage to zero-step entrances, curbless showers, stair lifts, and residential elevators.
Most importantly, accessibility doesn’t have to begin with a crisis. Planning ahead gives you the opportunity to make changes thoughtfully and proactively—on your terms—so your home can continue supporting the way you want to live for years to come.
